Bio

Hi, I live in a beautiful part of Spain but spend most of my time in Iraq where I work.

I have always travelled, left the UK more than 30 years ago and managed to keep my family together.

I have been through the mill a few times and always seem to come through wiser and happier.

I have been lonely, through the usual marriage turmoils, fired, hired, rich, broke.

If anyone wants a chat then please free. I am very upbeat about most things, politics excluded!

...See more I think that I shall never know Why I am thus, and I am so. Around me, other girls inspire In men the rush and roar of fire, The sweet transparency of glass, The tenderness of April grass, The durability of granite; But me- I don't know how to plan it. The lads I've met in Cupid's deadlock Were- shall we say?- born out of wedlock. They broke my heart, they stilled my song, And said they had to run along, Explaining, so to sop my tears, First came their parents or careers. But ever does experience Deny me wisdom, calm, and sense! Though she's a fool who seeks to capture The twenty-first fine, careless rapture, I must go on, till ends my rope, Who from my birth was cursed with hope. A heart in half is chaste, archaic; But mine resembles a mosaic- The thing's become ridiculous! Why am I so? Why am I thus?
A cheerful poem.

...See more The Pig [https://allpoetry.com/poem/8503193-The-Pig-by-Roald-Dahl]    by Roald Dahl. In England once there lived a big A wonderfully clever pig. To everybody it was plain That Piggy had a massive brain. He worked out sums inside his head, There was no book he hadn't read. He knew what made an airplane fly, He knew how engines worked and why. He knew all this, but in the end One question drove him round the bend: He simply couldn't puzzle out What LIFE was really all about. What was the reason for his birth? Why was he placed upon this earth? His giant brain went round and round. Alas, no answer could be found. Till suddenly one wondrous night. All in a flash he saw the light. He jumped up like a ballet dancer And yelled, "By gum, I've got the answer!" "They want my bacon slice by slice "To sell at a tremendous price! "They want my tender juicy chops "To put in all the butcher's shops! "They want my pork to make a roast "And that's the part'll cost the most! "They want my sausages in strings! "They even want my chitterlings! "The butcher's shop! The carving knife! "That is the reason for my life!" Such thoughts as these are not designed To give a pig great peace of mind. Next morning, in comes Farmer Bland, A pail of pigswill in his hand, And piggy with a mighty roar, Bashes the farmer to the floor… Now comes the rather grizzly bit So let's not make too much of it, Except that you must understand That Piggy did eat Farmer Bland, He ate him up from head to toe, Chewing the pieces nice and slow. It took an hour to reach the feet, Because there was so much to eat, And when he finished, Pig, of course, Felt absolutely no remorse. Slowly he scratched his brainy head And with a little smile he said, "I had a fairly powerful hunch "That he might have me for his lunch. "And so, because I feared the worst, "I thought I'd better eat him first."

...See more Hey diddle diddle We're all on the fiddle And never get up until noon. We only take cash Which we carefully stash And we work by the light of the moon.
Read then look at your partner.

...See more Passion makes the old medicine new: Passion lops off the bough of weariness. Passion is the elixir that renews: how can there be weariness  when passion is present? Oh, don’t sigh heavily from fatigue: seek passion, seek passion, seek passion!

...See more I heard the song 2 days ago for the first time. Beautiful words. There are nine million bicycles in Beijing That's a fact It's a thing we can't deny Like the fact that I will love you till I die We are twelve billion light years from the edge That's a guess No-one can ever say it's true But I know that I will always be with you I'm warmed by the fire of your love everyday So don't call me a liar Just believe everything that I say There are six billion people in the world More or less And it makes me feel quite small But you're the one I love the most of all We're high on the wire With the world in our sight And I'll never tire Of the love that you give me every night

...See more I’ve fallen in love—I don't know why I’ve fallen in love with a girl with one eye. I knew from the start. It was plain to see That this wonderful girl had an eye out for me She’s charming and witty and jolly and jocular Not what you’d expect from a girl who’s monocular. Of eyes—at the moment—she hasn’t full quota But that doesn’t change things for me one iota. It must be quite difficult if you’re bereft. If your left eye is gone and your right eye is left. But she’s made up her mind. She’s made her decision. She can see it quite clearly in 10/20 vision. She’ll not leave me waiting, not left in the lurch If she looks slightly sideways she’ll see me in church. I’ll marry my true love who’s gentle and kind. And thus prove to everyone that loves not quite blind.

...See more Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment, it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

...See more My darling, my lover, my beautiful wife Marrying you screwed up my life. I see your face when I am dreaming That’s why I always wake up screaming Kind, intelligent,   loving and hot This describes everything you are not. I thought that I could love no other— That Is until I met your brother. Roses are red, violets are blue, sugar is sweet and so are you But those roses are wilting, the violets are dead, the sugar bowl’s empty and so is your head. I want to feel your sweet embrace But don’t take that paper bag off your face. I love your smile, your face and your eyes— Damn, I’m good at telling lies! My love, you take my breath away. What have you stepped in to smell this way? My feelings for you no words can tell, Except maybe,” Go to ***” What inspired this amorous rhyme? Two parts tequila, one part lime
